Bending Steel
Chris Schoeck, a 43-year-old Queens native, is training to become a professional oldetime strongman. The story follows Chris’ journey from his early days training in a small basement storage unit to his very first performance on the big stage at New York’s historic Coney Island. Alongside his trainer Chris Rider, he meets strongman legends and starts to gain a taste of acceptance, something that ever since his early childhood has always felt out of reach. Suddenly Chris sees an opportunity to finally stand out, make a name for himself and find his place in life.
“The sight of this very strong man tackling a moment of complete vulnerability gives Bending Steel the hold-your-breath drama of a fine sports film.” (The Hollywood Reporter) BENDING STEEL premiered in the Tribeca Film Festival.
