Life as a B-Movie: Piero Vivarelli

Life as a B-Movie: Piero Vivarelli

Explore the unbridled life and kaleidoscopic filmography of Piero Vivarelli, who not only was a director of Italian B-movies but also penned the screenplay for the Sergio Corbucci spaghetti-western Django (which famously provided the inspiration for Quentin Tarantino's own Django Unchained). An unsung postwar provocateur and revolutionary, Vivarelli was the only non-Cuban besides Che Guevara to be given a Cuban Communist Party card signed by Fidel Castro. He also wrote the lyrics to the international hit song "24 mila baci" and, as a music journalist, was considered one of the key individuals responsible for bringing rock and roll to Italy.

“Digs deep into an unusual career that few of us knew much about, and unearths a few striking claims to cinematic fame.” –Film Authority
