In this nightmarish look at erotic delusion, lonely nightwatchman Lundgren (Per Oscarsson) becomes enamored with a window mannequin at the department store where he works. In his desperation for companionship, he steals the doll and takes it home with him. Believing the inanimate object to be alive, Lundgren brings it clothes and gifts, but soon prying eyes look to tear the two of them apart.
