The Old Man and the Land
An old man works alone to maintain his ancestral farmland, season after season. As his strength fades, his children must confront the harsh realities of inheritance. His daughter understands farming but struggles with commitment. His son only views the land as a financial asset. While they bicker, will the farmer's lifelong devotion to the land be lost, or will someone rise to preserve his legacy?
A world premiere at the Critic's Pick Competition of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, Nicholas Parish's THE OLD MAN AND THE LAND is a “worthy experimental film [that] tells a convincing story of a broken family” (The Arts Desk).
“Raising as many questions as it answers, Álvaro's film highlights how little we know of real life in North Korea, and how much propaganda from both sides continues to cloud international understanding.” –The Observer
