Drama
After transferring from a downtown Kyiv high school, Tonia (Alina Cheban) joins a gang while searching for a place where she truly belongs. Initially attracted to Zhurik, she also finds herself drawn to Sania and eventually becomes entangled in a secret love triangle. But as her abusive past resurfaces, it threatens to unravel her fragile sense of connection, putting both her friendships and newfound romance at risk.
Premiering in the Horizons Extra competition at the Venice Film Festival, the debut feature from Ukrainian writer/director Anna Buryachkova, FOREVER-FOREVER is “promising gem” (Cineuropa) that “successfully and poignantly captures the beauty and horror of youth” (Flipscreened).
“Buryachkova addresses adolescence with stark honesty. She avoids romantic idealization, instead presenting it as a nuanced and intricate stage of personal development, especially in the post-Soviet landscape following communism's fall.” –Screen Anarchy
