You Will Remember Me
Drama, Independent
Edouard (Remy Girard), a public figure and retired History teacher, is slowly starting to lose his memory. Accustomed to speaking on all the stands, he must make himself more discreet, even if he believes he still has a lot to say. Edouard’s son-in-law hires his daughter Bérénice (Karelle Tremblay) to help watch over him, even though she is a little lost herself. Their relationship will lead Edouard to revisit a time from his personal history that he had chosen to forget, and Bérénice to find meaning in her own life. The drama intensifies when Edouard’s wife can no longer stand the effects dementia has on her husband and must choose between staying by his side until the end or spending the remaining years on her own terms.
Directed by Éric Tessier, YOU WILL REMEMBER ME had its world premiere at the Sarajevo Film Festival and went on to receive two nominations at the Canadian Screen Awards for Best Adapted Screenplay and Achievement in Cinematography.
“Compelling…where the film really connects is in its acting, notably in the interplay between Tremblay’s thoughtful, reserved performance and Girard’s thorny but winning characterization.” –Screen Daily
