Eleven-year-old Emma had a perfectly normal family until her dad reveals he is transitioning to become a woman. As Thomas becomes Agnete, both father and daughter struggle to hold on to the relationship they once had, while accepting the reality that everything has forever changed.

The feature debut from Danish writer/director Malou Reymann, which is loosely based on her own experiences as a child, A PERFECTLY NORMAL FAMILY had its world premiere in competition at the Rotterdam International Film Festival, where it won the VPRO Big Screen Award and was called an “engagingly sincere picture of good people trying to negotiate barely charted territory to the best of their abilities” (Variety).
