Abu Omar
Under a strict military curfew, Salah (Kais Nashif), a grieving Palestinian father, sets out towards the Israeli border carrying the body of his recently deceased son in a duffel bag. While fending off the terrible heat, Miri (Shany Verchik), a pregnant single woman, decides to help him no matter what the cost. On this brief and tender journey, two lonely souls become partners, even for only a few days.
The debut dramatic feature from award-winning Israeli documentary filmmaker Roy Krispel, ABU OMAR had its world premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival and won the Best Director prize at the Ischia Film Festival.
“Kais Nashif, who plays the lead in the film, gives an extraordinary performance as a grieving father. Nashif, who won the Best Actor Award for Sameh Zoabi’s Tel Aviv on Fire at the Venice Film Festival in 2018, is one of the finest actors working today and gets better with every movie.” –Jerusalem Post
