After being sent to the Indonesian island of Sumba to deliver aid to communities devastated by Cyclone Seroja, young nun Yohanna (Laura Basuki) borrows a van to transport supplies, only to have it stolen. Determined to recover the vehicle, she joins forces with Alice (Kirana Grasela), a streetwise petty thief and bootleg alcohol seller, who guides her through the local hidden network of hustlers, outcasts and opportunists.
Winner of six awards including Best Film and Best Director at the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival, YOHANNA from writer/director Razka Robby Ertanto is “quite an astonishing opus” (Cineuropa) featuring a “spectacular performance by the Indonesian star Laura Basuki” (Dirty Movies).
