Aida (Gresa Pallaska), a tough business woman living in a small Albanian town on the shores of Lake Ohrid, works a lucrative job as city planner until her comfortable life is unexpectedly shattered when her son is accused of sexual assaulting a classmate. Convinced of his innocence, Aida begins her own investigation, but her search for the truth inside a system filled with corruption leads her to a tragic reality.
Albania's official Oscar submission for Best International Feature, WATERDROP is the latest film from award-winning writer/director Robert Budina that presents a “scathing realist indictment of collective complicity in violent patriarchal systems” (Cineuropa) with an acclaimed performance by Gresa Pallaska, who “delivers a powerhouse turn” as city planner who “must pull all the stops out to protect her son” (The Contending).
