Once a brilliant playwright, Lisa (Nina Hoss) no longer writes. She lives in Switzerland with her family, but her heart remains in Berlin, where her twin brother, Sven (Lars Eidinger), is battling an aggressive type of leukemia. He is a famous theater actor, and Lisa tries moving heaven and earth to get him back on stage. For Sven, she is willing to neglect everyone else. Her marriage goes awry, but Lisa's greatest concern is for her brother, who reflects her deepest longings and awakens in her the desire to create again.
“Featuring two awards-caliber performances” (The Playlist), MY LITTLE SISTER had its world premiere in competition at the Berlin Film Festival. This “tender” New York Times Critic's Pick filled with “refreshing emotional candor” was Switzerland's official Oscar selection for Best International Feature Film.
