Slushy pushcart vendor Calogero has entered the witness protection program after agreeing to testify against a mafia killer he saw murder a man in Sicily. Provided a new identity, he is sent as far away as possible: Sauris, a tiny village nestled in the Italian Alps. Unfortunately, snow and weird Schuhplattler folk dances do not suit him, but that's not even his biggest problem. Calogero is not the only new resident in Sauris. The killer that he testified against has turned informant, and now is his new neighbor.
Premiering at the Busan International Film Festival, Davide Del Degan's PARADISE: A NEW LIFE won Best First Feature at the Italian Golden Globes.
“Warmhearted and commendably compact, PARADISE is a film of fond smiles.” –Screen Daily
