Born seventh after six other girls, Fidela (Paola Sini) is condemned to be the witch of her Sardinian village. Shunned from men and cursed to never have a child of her own, she gives birth to all the other women's children. When Bastiana, an illegitimate seventh daughter is entrusted to her, she not only discovers the power of being a mother, but begins to question all the beliefs and traditions around her.
The debut feature from Italian writer/director Marisa Vallone, THE LAND OF WOMEN won the award for Best Actress (Paola Sini) at the Bari International Film Festival.
