Upon learning that his younger brother had an accident and has slipped into a vegetative state, Tibetan monk Tenzin Banjue leaves his monastery and embarks on the long walk back to his home village. Once there, he finds himself caught between faith and desire when his mother encourages him to stay and marry his brother's intended bride.
Premiering at the Shanghai International Film Festival where it won the Asian New Talent Award for its screenplay, SUNSHINE THAT CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS is the debut feature from Hebei-born filmmaker Wang Qiang.
“A film steeped in nature’s splendor, sensitive to life’s ebbs and flows, and striving to convey the everyday realities of rural Tibetan existence... Here, stunning mountain vistas provide a picturesque constant in an engaging tale of faith and tradition.” –Screen Daily
