Matters of identity, origin and self-fulfillment are explored in WALCHENSEE FOREVER, a cinematic voyage of discovery spanning four generations of women over a century. Uncovering hidden secrets and her role in the ancestral chain, filmmaker Janna Ji Wonders takes viewers from the family café at the Bavarian Lake Walchensee via Mexico to San Francisco during the “Summer of Love”, Indian ashrams, a German commune and back again to Lake Walchensee.
Hailed as an "intimate journey" that taps into a "vivid tapestry of memories" (Screen Daily), the documentary family saga WALCHENSEE FOREVER premiered at the Berlinale 2020, where it won the Kompass-Perspektive Award, and was also the Best Documentary winner at the Bavarian Film Awards.
